I bought a Bus Pirate several years ago and had been using it to do some electronics experiments but unfortunately managed to brick the thing thanks to an ill-advised update. The bootloader itself was scrambled and so I needed to use a PicKit to unbrick it by restoring the bootloader and then burn in the new firmware. It seems that the community-provided 7.0 firmware for 3.6 hardware available here will not work with the board I have, and perhaps an ill-fated attempt to install that was what led to it being bricked. It seems the firmware is no longer being updated, but well, it seems like a useful little gadget so I’m glad I was able to bring it back to life. Might use it to try to explore and test a WS2812B string of lights that I’ll add in as backlight for my keyboard later. I dunno if I’m going to try to get into PIC programming as well as Arduino later on though.
